ECOloriamo!! Laboratorio Creativo di pittura su t-shirt :)

La collaborazione di Duckie-O con il negozio di giocattoli ecologici di Martellago “La Tana del Bianconiglio” è iniziata lo scorso autunno ma solo il prossimo 25 Maggio si concretizzerà con l’evento “ECOloriamo!!!”. Un laboratorio creativo dove le t-shirt cucite ad hoc da noi verranno usate come tela bianca dai bimbi (2-7 anni) che si saranno iscritti! In concomitanza con il laboratorio presenteremo anche gli abitini della collezione Duckie-O!

Eco-paint! Paint your organic t-shirt

Duckie-O’s collaboration with the organic toys shop “La Tana del Bianconiglio” began last autumn and will be confirmed with the event Eco-paint! that will take place next Saturday May the 25th. A creative lab with specifically created t-shirts, a-toxic colors and a ton of fun, all for those kids (2-7yrs) that will be subscribed. Together with the lab we will have a presentation of Duckie-O dresses!

Holidays holidays. I had 10 minutes to buy something for my daughter and to my surprise the department store was packed! Carts were full of gifts and people were happily buying. I did not see crisis or maybe everybody had heavy discount coupons and I not know. Anyway it looked like the race to the perfect gift had begun and I feel like I’m late as usual. This year I/we actually can contribute to the “gift creation” and I’m excited. In this photo you can see the first pinwheels packaged with our new business card. Want one? Just ask. We will be happy to get it done in the color and size you want. Oggi avevo 10 minuti per comprare una cosa per la mia bimba e con mia grande sorpresa il grande magazzino era strapieno. La crisi? Mah, o forse tutti avevano dei coupon con sconti supersonici di cui io non ero a conoscenza. Mi sa che la grande corsa al regalo perfetto e’ cominciata e io sono in ritardo come al solito. Quest’anno pero’ mi sembra di poter contribuire alla “creazione del regalo” e sono emozionata. In questa foto vedete le prime mollette girandola impacchettate con il nostro biglietto da visita. Me volete una? Basta chiedere e potrete scegliere colore e dimensione.

Eccolo! Finalmente arriva il vestito Duckie-O per l’autunno inverno!

100% cotone organico 100% fatto a mano in Italia. Si puo’ indossare sopra una dolcevita in autunno o una t-shirt in primavera. Con la calzamaglia per i piu’ piccoli e poi coi jeans quando si cresce. Morbido, comodo e divertente ha anche la nostra Duckie sempre applicata a mano!

It has been a LONG summer. For both of us.

A lot of things happened in our lives but we made it and we are ready to face the cold season, once again on the opposite sides of the ocean.

A brand new dress coming up soon and in the meantime tell us if you like our felt hairclips, and for those who already have one, take a post a photo of your daughter with it on!

You can pick the color you prefer and we can also discuss the size. Ask any question you need!

E’ stata una lunga estate per entrambe. Sono successe davvero un sacco di cose, ma siamo pronte ad affrontare il freddo, ancora una volta dalle parti opposte dell’oceano.

A brevissimo posteremo le foto del nuovo vestito e intanto commentate sulle nostre mollette a girandola in feltro, chi di voi ne ha gia’ una, puo’ postare una foto della bimba con la molletta! E mi raccomando: fate tutte le domande che volete!!

Ecco perché Duckie-O è Adorabile ed organico!

Innanzitutto vorremmo condividere con voi un sito che è stato importante durante le ricerche per la tesi di laurea di Sara. Si tratta di www.ecofashionworld.com , sito che fa propri i dogmi della moda sostenibile e li espone con chiarezza nella sezione “ecocriteria”.

Ogni progetto di moda, o di abbigliamento, che si vuole avvalere dell’aura verde “organica” deve seguire come minimo uno di questi criteri. Noi, con Duckie-O, vorremmo perseguirne almeno 4!

Innanzitutto utilizziamo cotone organico, sia in jersey che tessuto. Il cotone organico è una fibra naturale che viene coltivata senza l’utilizzo di pesticidi o altri prodotti tossici, in questo modo la coltura è totalmente sostenibile, sia per l’ambiente che per gli esseri umani che lavorano o vivono nelle vicinanze.

Nel particolare ci avvaliamo di un brand americano, Cloud9, che conferma la propria idoneità ai GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) e all’OE 100 (Organic exchange standard). Oltre a una coltura in linea con il benessere del nostro pianeta, Cloud9 tinge e stampa le proprie stoffe con coloranti a basso impatto sull’ambiente, che non richiedono mordenti chimici e tossici per aderire al tessuto, risultando anche meno aggressivi sulla pelle. Essendo tutti i nostri prodotti realizzati in cotone, sono anche vegani, quindi non fanno utilizzo di pelle o pelo animale.

Dulcis in fundo, ogni singolo abitino viene realizzato a mano in Italia, in questo preciso momento da Sara, in modo etico (senza sfruttamento) e artigianale. I cartamodelli sono studiati in modo che venga sprecato il minor tessuto possibile, e nel limite del possibile vorremmo utilizzare i resti di questo cotone organico per i nostri accessori!

Ogni abito è semplice, comodo e con uno stile chiaro e pulito. Il materiale è resistente, consistente e duraturo.

In ultimo, a Duckie-O piacerebbe essere anche custom! Perché proprio il nostro essere “slow”, ovvero lenti e piccoli, ci permette di lavorare sulle proporzioni di ogni bambino per creare i nostri abitini ad hoc per le vostre piccole pesti!

First we would like to share with you a website that has been a mile stone for Sara’s thesis research: www.ecofashionworld.com embraces the dogmas of sustainable fashion and exposes them clearly in the “ecocriteria” section.

Every fashion or clothing project who wants to avail the green “organic” aura must follow at least one of these criteria. We, with Duckie-O, would like to pursue at least 4 of them!

First, we use organic cotton for our cloth and jersey. Organic cotton is a natural fiber that is grown without using pesticides or other toxic products, so the culture is totally sustainable, both for the environment and the humans who work or live nearby.
In particular, we work with an American brand, Cloud9, which confirms its suitability to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and OE 100 (Organic exchange standard). In addition to a culture in line with the well being of our planet, Cloud9 dyes and prints its fabrics with low impact materials, which does not require toxic or chemicals mordents to adhere to the fabric, making it less harsh on the skin. Since all our products are made of cotton, Duckie-o is also a vegan friendly brand.

Last but not least, each dress is hand made in Italy, at this very moment by Sara, in an ethical way (without exploitation) with craftsmanship skills (not industrial). The patterns are designed in a way we waste as little fabric as possible and we will use the remains of this precious organic cotton for our accessories!

Each dress is simple, convenient and features a clear and clean style. The material is strong, consistent and durable.

Duckie-o would also like to be custom-made! Our will to be slow and small, allows us to work on the proportions of each child to create a perfect dress for your little brat!

Cotone Bio vs Cotone convenzionale. Organic cotton vs conventional cotton.

Ci avete detto di non saperne abbastanza sul cotone bio per poter esprimere opinioni e preferenze quindi eccoci a raccontare le differenze tra cotone “organico” e quello, convenzionale.

Le diversita’ sono sostanziali a tutti i livelli della produzione a partire dai semi, come viene curato il terreno, a come viene raccolto e finito il cotone. Il processo produttivo, per il cotone organico e’ completamente naturale e privo di pesticidi, insetticidi, fertilizzanti sintetici. Quando si passa alla tintura e alla stampa il cotone convenzionale fa uso di metalli pesanti e componenti sulfurei che oltre a penetrare nell’eco sistema arrivano alla nostra pelle.

I cotoni organici certificati, come quelli che usa Duckie-O, sono conformi a una serie di criteri in ogni fase del processo produttivo che garantiscono un impatto minimo sull’ambiente e vanno decisamente meglio per la nostra pelle.

La realta’ e’ che non si muore perche’ si indossa cotone convenzionale. La questione e’ etica. Sarebbe bello pero’ che in futuro la coltivazione del cotone, tanto per dirne una, possa tornare ad essere il piu’ naturale possibile in modo da aiutare il nostro pianeta oltre che la nostra pelle.

There are important differences at any level in the production process, starting from the tilling of the soil to the selection of seeds, labor paid and water used, There are no pesticides or insecticides. Same is true for dying and printing, while for conventional cotton heavy metals and sulfur content are used and can penetrate both the skin and the ecosystem.
